The Victorian and Edwardian tile was very much a feature of the fire within the room and it was often vivid in colour with stunning designs, This could be as simple as a coloured embossed tile to a run of tiles depicting many different scenes or images. From floral to symmetry to simply unusual. Once the fire was lit these tiles would glow and the picture seen was so enticing.

When the art nouveau period arrived this style reached its way to all the accessories of a stylish home which very much included the tiles of the fire. They were awash with elegant curves, shapes and colours and would finish off that wonderful period image.
